About Us
Mu Alpha Xi is an information age, co-ed martial arts fraternity. Mu Alpha Xi was founded on October 27th 2001 in Chico, California.
The purpose of Mu Alpha Xi is to promote the study of martial arts in the Chico area. We offer several weekly sessions for the purposes
of training in martial arts and self-defense. Sessions address hard and soft arts, weapons, grappling, balance, leverages, holds,
locks, self-defense law, training for competition, stealth tactics, and other topics. Some sessions are open to the public but most are
for members only.
Our members are generally eighteen to thirty years old and come from such professions as computer engineering, graphic design, business,
and photography. Most of our members attend CSU Chico or Butte College. A typical member has two or more years of experience in one or
more martial arts and enjoy cross-training to expand their martial horizons and socializing with other martial artists.
