Chemistry
1.1 Precautions
1. Treat all chemicals with the utmost respect as if they were lethal, because
they are.
2. If you are untrained or uncertain as to what you are trying to do, STOP!
3. Do not smoke while handling chemicals.
1.2 Fire Proofing
To fire proof cloth dissolve a teaspoon of boric acid and a teaspoon of borax
in 4 ounces of water. When dissolved saturate the cloth with the solution.

1.3.1 Flash Paper
Making homemade flash paper is very dangerous. Alternatively it can be bought
quite cheaply at a commercial magician shop. This is recommended. Read all
steps first before attempting to make flash paper.
You will need the following items:
Sulfuric Acid
Nitric Acid
Rubber Gloves
A Glass Rod
A Shallow Glass Dish
1. A solution of 4 parts concentrated sulfuric acid and 5 parts concentrated
nitric acid should be prepared.
2. Mix the acids in small quantities and in a slow manner as to prevent pre-mature
explosion from heat or the splashing of acids.
3. Were rubber gloves at all times.
4. Place solution made in step 1 in a shallow glass dish. Place white tissue
paper in solution and let soak for 10 minutes
5. Remove paper from glass dish with a glass rod.
6. Wash the paper in running water removing all of the acid.
7.Dry the newly form flash paper in open air. Keep away from heat sources and
fire.
8. Flash paper is volatile. Store paper between cardboard or untreated tissue
paper.
1.3.2 Flash Bombs
Flash bombs can be constructed by wrapping flash powder in flash paper. To
use light the paper and throw to produce a close quarters flash that will temporarily
blind the enemy.
1.4 Smoke Screen
When titanium chloride is exposed to air it creates thick volumes of smoke.
1.4.1 Smoke Bombs
To make a smoke bomb place the chemical titanium chloride in a egg shell or
egg shaped container. When thrown the container will break on impact and release
a smoke screen.
1.5 Liquid Fire
Liquid fire consists of yellow phosphorous dissolved in carbon disulfide.
When this mixture is exposed to air the carbon disulfide evaporates quickly
causing the remaining phosphorous to ignite. Liquid fire is extremely flammable
and will burst into flames when exposed to air. Thus is must be kept in a glass
jar with a glass stopper as the mixture will eat through rubber.

Special Thanks To: Oscar Diaz-Cobo's book for clarifying liquid fire for me.
I have used it before but I couldn't remember what to dissolve the yellow phosphorous
in.
